Seeking States

Many of us are so caught up in our yesterdays, bound to our ideas of the past, the traditional, our assumptions and prejudices, our likes and dislikes; we are no longer interested in the “seeking state”. I have found that novelty is a way of breaking this and to many experiencing mind magic, mentalism and Psychological Artistry is a novel personal experience.

Let me very briefly introduce you to an idea of Jaak Panksepp. He was a neuroscientist and psychobiologist who coined the term “affective neuroscience”, the name for the field that studies the neural mechanisms of emotion.

As part of this he talked about Seeking Systems. In summary, this is a system that drives us to seek out and engage with information that helps us. Dopamine energized seeking systems encourages exploration, investigation, curiosity, craving and expectancy.

Part of delivering mentalism is the joy of creating “seeking states” in both ourselves and others.  By tapping into Seeking System, we stimulate and motivate ourselves and others, challenge static thoughts and open new doors of perception.

To stimulate a seeking state for yourself, watch this video of the McGurk Effect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pymCpthlrEc

A combination of intrigue, mystery, exploring possibilities and unexpected information creates a setting that is enticing, exciting and totally irresistible.  This is why mentalism has held its popularity through the ages. It’s an appeal that goes beyond secrets and methods.

Psychological Artistry Live! is all about providing you with brand new possibilities and creating seeking states within you. The Right Question?

Questions are very powerful, so let me ask you a couple of questions now.

  • Are you ready to seek out and experience something new?
  • Are you ready to discover and accept new perspectives?
  • Are you ready for the new to come in to seek out something unexpected?

If you answered yes to these questions, then the Psychological Artistry Live day is going to interest you.

The questions you ask can stimulate your seeking states. Keep asking questions and you’ll keep people’s attention. Questions from the day that stimulate the seeking states include:

  • How did they predict the future?
  • How did they make the note float?
  • How did they read my mind?

Questions are the key to learning, and the answers provoke new perspectives, new experiences and are usually unexpected.

We’ve had some amazing feedback from 2017’s workshops. Here are just a few:

“Such an inspiring day! Changes your whole way of thinking.. a must have experience!” – Lucy A.

“Working in the hypnotherapy industry, George and Alex bring to my world a totally unique perspective that helps me help my clients on many levels.” – Philip A.

“These sessions are well thought out and provided me with everything I was looking for my future workshops and more. Great job guys.” – Noëlle B.
